Before changing the nappy, clean nappy, and apply powder or cream if there are any nappy rashes. Then change the nappy. Keep these things in mind while changing your baby's nappy :
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with lukewarm water and soap before changing nappies.
  • After that, remove the dirty nappy and throw it away and immerse the cotton in lukewarm water and clean the baby's bottom part.
  • Wipe the diaper area well with a piece of clean cotton cloth. Then put a little bit of cream and sprinkle baby powder.
  • If you use a home-made cloth diaper for your baby then use it only after washing it with hot water and some good antiseptic. It would be better if you use disposable diapers for them.


How to do a newborn baby's massage?

Massage helps in improving a baby's blood circulation and digestion. It is also a very good way to bond with your newborn baby.

The right way of doing baby's massage

  • Use that oil for the baby's massage which does not have a very strong smell and it is well absorbed in the baby's skin. Olive or almond oil is fine for this.
  • Close the room fan or AC at the time of massage. 
  • Nowadays the massage table also comes, but the most comfortable condition for the baby is that you sit with straight legs and lay the baby between your two legs and put a small pillow under the baby's head and massage your baby with light hands.
  • Always start massaging from the baby's feet. Then massage baby's hands, stomach, and chest. After this, massage baby's back and finally massage baby's head.


How to bathe your baby? 

Bath your baby after the massage. This will make him/her feel very relaxed and also good for sleep.

  • Keep all necessary accessories related to the baby's bath like baby soap, shampoo, towel, baby clothes, and a bathtub and arranged them in one place and then start bathing. 
  • Whatever the weather is always used light lukewarm water for bathing your baby. 
  • While bathing, keep it in mind that water doesn't let in the baby's eyes, nose, or ears. 
  • Clean your baby's underarms, neck, and private parts, carefully because they may get rashes in such parts due to sweating. 
  • Special care should be taken while cleaning the baby's eyes, ears, and nose. Clean the outer part of the ear with a soft cotton cloth. 
  • Wash the baby's head with good baby shampoo once a week. 
  • Wipe water from the baby's body after bathing and let it dry.
  • Cover your baby with a towel immediately after bathing.



How to take care of a prematurely born baby?

The baby who born before the scheduled time is weak and needs special care. If the premature baby has mild jaundice problem then this condition can be easily controlled but if the baby has severe jaundice problem then phototherapy is given to them for the treatment of jaundice. 


Phototherapy procedure newborn

During the phototherapy procedure, a soft mask is placed on the baby's eyes, and the baby's body is placed under a  special lamp that emits a blue-green spectrum. The baby's blood test is also done before giving phototherapy. Phototherapy is also known as Light Therapy.

  • Special care should be taken while cleaning the newborn baby's room.
  • Always wash your hands and take out your shoes and slippers before going to the baby's room.
  • If any family member has a cough or cold keep them away from the baby.
  • Don't allow the outsiders to access to the baby's room because the baby can be infected by the outside dirt.
